Trends in Social Acceptance of Renewable Energy Across Europe—A Literature Review
Despite widespread support for renewable energy (RE) in general, many projects face local resistance. Drawing on 25 case studies across Europe, this research, led by the National Research Council of Italy, Northeastern University(USA) and Carleton University(CA), examines key social drivers and barriers affecting acceptance among various groups - residents, stakeholders, and experts. Combining qualitative and quantitative analysis, it identifies the main factors shaping both local and general acceptance. The findings provide guidance for developing strategies that enhance public support for renewable projects.
